Convention Rules

We all love to have a good time, but in order to help keep everyone safe, Amelia Con has a few ground rules that all exhibitors, artists, VIP and Special Guests, volunteers, staff, and attendees must follow.  Anyone not following these rules will be asked to leave.  If you have questions, please contact us at info(at)

These rules may be updated at any time in order to stay in compliance with our values, venues, state, local, and federal laws.  A copy of the latest convention rules will be on display at the Amelia Con booth.  By registering or signing a contract (as a guest, artist, panelist, sponsor, volunteer, or exhibitor) or purchasing a badge/wristband, you agree to abide by these rules when you are at the convention or corresponding with convention staff.

Thank you for contributing to a fun, safe environment for the convention!

  • If you have a fake gun for your cosplay, it must have an orange tip.
  • No knives, swords, throwing objects, etc. are permitted, even if they are “peace branded”.  Do not bring them into the convention hall.
  • No projectiles of any kind may come off of your person, any objects you are carrying, your costume, or anything on or held by you.
  • We understand that you really want to meet a special guest or get to a panel in time, but we do not want to see you hurt yourself on a concrete floor.
  • Parents, guardians, and other supervisors will be held responsible for their children’s behavior.
  • If you have a large, bulky costume you are welcome to attend panels and other events, but please do not walk through the exhibit area.
  • Odds are, if you can’t fit through the front door, your costume is too bulky for the exhibit hall.
  • The Costume and Cosplay Competitions are held in the Main Events Hall which has wider doors.  If you are unable to fit through the door, please notify a volunteer and we will accommodate you.
  • Amelia Con will not have a place you can set pieces of your costume that are too large for the exhibit area.  You are welcome to store these elsewhere and return when needed.  Your badge is good for the entire day.
  • Some of our outdoor venues may be unable to accommodate large, bulky costumes.  We apologize for this inconvenience.  It is our recommendation that, if you wear a large/bulky costume that you leave it in a safe place (like your car) until it is time for the Costume and Cosplay Competitions or that you wear it in the open areas and Main Event Hall only.
  • Do not take something from an artist, guest, exhibitor, volunteer, staff member, the convention hall, the panel room, and/or another attendee if it does not belong to you.
  • Exhibitors, Artists, and anyone else participating in Amelia Con has the right to pursue charges if they deem it is necessary.
  • If you have a problem with someone, please go somewhere else.  This is not the time or place.
  • Please do not reenact or otherwise simulate fight scenes unless it is part of a Convention Approved panel or event and it has been announced that you will be doing a “skit”.  Otherwise, people may not understand what is happening and someone could get hurt.
  • All participants engaging in violent and/or rowdy behavior will be removed immediately.
  • It is OK to do still action poses for pictures.
  • Please keep all of your belongings with you.  This includes bags, costumes, accessories, brochures/flyers, and anything else you brought with you or received while you were at the convention.
  • Artists and Exhibitors may use their designated areas, but should not expand into common areas or other artist/exhibitor spaces.
  • Amelia Con will not be responsible for any goods that are lost or damaged at the convention.  Ultimately, it is your responsibility to keep track of your stuff.
  • If you need to put something somewhere safe, please make arrangements for someone to come and pick it up from you or leave it in your vehicle.
  • This includes perfumes, deodorants, water spritzers, cleaners, art supplies, silly string, water guns, etc.
  • The “Convention Grounds” includes any area where official Amelia Con events are being held.
  • Amelia Con will have trash cans prominently displayed.  Please make use of them.
  • Please clean up any messes you make.
  • If you are an exhibitor, panelist, or artist, you will be given instructions on where to leave your trash at the end of the show.
  • There is a nature preserve within walking distance of the convention.  It would be a shame for it to be compromised because someone was lazy.
  • This includes masking tape, scotch tape, sticky tacky, duct tape, any sticky substance, etc.
  • The “Convention Grounds” include the parking lots, foyers, bathrooms, kitchens, exhibit areas, artist areas, panel rooms, tents, etc.
  • Anyone who violates this will be responsible for compensating Amelia Con and the The Venue for any damages, labor, supplies, etc. that went to removing the substance.
  • Please be respectful to everyone around you.
  • Anyone being disrespectful to a VIP Guest, Exhibitor, Artist, Volunteer, Staff Member, Panelist, and/or another attendee may be asked to leave.
  • All volunteers are operating on behalf of Amelia Con.  If you have a concern about a volunteer, please come to the Amelia Con Booth in the Exhibit Hall.
  • Please wear your wristband or badge the entire time you are at the convention.
  • Badges and wristbands will not be replaced.  If you lose yours while you are in the convention, please visit the Amelia Con Booth in the Exhibit Hall or the Registration Tables outside.
  • No exceptions to this policy will be permitted.
  • If you find a badge or wristband on the floor, please bring it to the Amelia Con Booth or Registration.  Someone may be looking for it.  Thank you!
  • This is to protect you from getting your toes or feet hurt by either stepping on something or someone stepping on you.
  • Flip flops and other sandals are fine.
  • If you have a costume that requires you be barefoot, you may participate in the costume and/or cosplay contest without shoes but please wear them at all other times.
  • You may wear costumes to Amelia Con.  However, we ask that your costumes cover your body parts that should not be revealed in public.  No nudity will be allowed.  As a rule of thumb, if you can’t wear it to a Public Beach, then you shouldn’t wear it to Amelia Con.

Volunteers are not Amelia Con Staff Members and should escort the person they are requesting to leave to the Amelia Con Booth  or bring an Amelia Con Staff Member to the area where there is a concern.  Any Amelia Con Staff Member has the right to ask you to leave.
