Thank you to all our exhibitors, artists, sponsors, life time passholders, attendees, venues, guests, and local business partners for their support for the past three Amelia Cons.
In planning our 2020 show, we budgeted to expand and make the show better, building on your feedback.
For the past three years, we have had our dates double-booked by other local and semi-local conventions. It was our fear that, by hosting the convention again in 2018 that we would perpetuate the over saturation of conventions in Florida but we wanted to move forward, regardless.
After substantial research we chose March 20-22, 2020 for our event dates and began working with guest talent, exhibitors, artists, and local sponsors to make the 2020 show bigger and better than ever.
Unfortunately, we found ourselves once again with double-booked dates by another local show.
Amelia Con has always been a small community show. It’s always been about our local fans and supporters.
But we cannot operate on the same weekend as large local shows. Not only does it divide the attendance, it depletes available artists and vendors as well as guests and community sponsors.
There were no other weekends we could have chosen for 2020 without double-booking another local show or moving to the Concourse weekend and we did not want to skip another year only to have the same thing happen again in 2021.
Due to the high number of conventions in Florida and especially within 1 hour of Amelia Island, we’ve chosen not to host the event again.
Thank you, again, for all of your support.
